Tuesday December 14, 11:10 am Eastern Time - Company Press Release
BOULDER CREEK, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Dec. 14, 1999--Zillions Development, creators of the first universal board game computer program, announced today that a free demo is available for download on their web site at http://www.zillions-of-games.com/demo/ . The demo allows board games enthusiasts to try out the system with 48 of the over 300 games included in the regular package, including Chess, Shogi, Reversi/Othello, Checkers, and many more.
``We felt it was time to let people try out our engine for free so that they could see for themselves what it can do. We're very proud of what we've managed to accomplish with it,'' says Jeff Mallett, President of Zillions and the inventor of the gaming system, ``New games are constantly being added to the program and the full version allows users to create their own games, then immediately play those new games with a strong computer opponent.''
In fact, the Zillions engine is so strong, that it wins games introduced to it only instants before. It devises its own strategies and values for pieces, much as a human game expert might, in a fraction of a second. ``We believe building an opponent engine that can play multiple games is a significant advance for computer gaming and we want to put that power into the hands of those using the program,'' says co-developer and Vice-President, Mark Lefler. ``The Zillions web site is constantly being updated to include new games and variations contributed by the players.''
Building on the Zillions engine, the company has already developed board games for online play in partnership with several web sites and across several platforms. Its program is currently in use, for instance, on the newly developed MSO Worldwide web site (http://www.msoworld.com/), the flagship for the company responsible for bringing to life the popular Mind Sports Olympiad held in London, England every year. The software also supports Logitech's new force feedback mouse.
There is more in store for ``Zillions of Games'' and updates are added to the company's web site all the time. With the introduction of their demo program, allowing players to try out this unique game before they buy, the company cements its position in the industry as innovators in the area of AI gaming.
